Real Shoestring Wedding – Kiralee and Ben’s Riverside Wedding
Bride and Groom: Kiralee and Ben
Date: 5th of August 2016
How many people: 55
How did you meet your husband and how did Ben propose?
We met when we were around seven, we lived in a small town together and his mum was friends with my grandmother so we had family events together. We were together seventeen months before he proposed. He wrote “Will you marry my dad” on our sons suit when he was three weeks old and unwrapped him at the beach whilst on a picnic.
What was something special about your wedding?
Something special about our wedding is that my husband is in the Navy and is getting posted away so we had to set a date and plan our wedding in 4 months. It ended up being the day before my birthday in the middle of winter and we got lucky and it was sunny and no wind
What was your favourite thing about the wedding?
My dress, hair, makeup and bouquet
What was the hardest thing?
Trying to organise everything
What would you do differently, if anything?
I would have paid someone to organise the day and plan everything etc. I felt like i was the wedding coordinator and I didn’t get to enjoy my own day.
What was included in your Ceremony and reception hire?
The venue for 2.5 days with 4 rooms to sleep in, a pavilion and all tables and chairs, also some decorations.
What was the thing you splurged on?
My dress and photographer.
What was your best bargain?
The wood on my tables for free.
Bride’s Bouquet: Flamingo Florist
Bridesmaids Bouquets: Faux Flowers from spotlight
Table Flowers: Friends Garden
Rings: From a closing down sale
Most decorations were from Vinnies, Ebay and the table runners were custom made in bali.
They also had wooden planks on the tables which were cut by the bride’s father in law for free.
